Cortado Enables Android Print for Enterprises

Integration of Android’s print system strengthens Cortado Corporate Server’s position as the leading productivity-enhancing enterprise mobility solution

Wednesday, October 28, 2015 — Cortado Mobile Solutions today extends the productivity features of its enterprise mobility solution Cortado Corporate Server with support of Android Print. For the first time, Android users can print documents directly to network printers in the enterprise without having to revert to a public cloud, such as Google Cloud Print.  Documents stay fully SSL-encrypted from the device to the printer.

Cortado Corporate Server is the leading enterprise mobility solution when it comes to productivity. Without the use of additional apps, Cortado Corporate Server has offered fully integrated, secure access to documents in the enterprise, as well as mobile printing for iPhones and iPads for a number of years. The next productivity milestone is mobile printing with Android smartphones and tablets to network printers.

This is made possible by integrating Android Print. By embedding Android’s print system within Cortado Corporate Server, users can print to any printer assigned to them by their administrator. Printing works with any Android smartphone or tablet, and from any app with an integrated print function. To start a print job, the user doesn’t even have to be in the office. This makes it possible, for example, to initiate a print job while on the way to work to save time. With SSL-encryption, print jobs stay secure all the way from the mobile device to the printer. Furthermore, print jobs are not processed via the public cloud, but on-premise within the company and behind its secure firewall.

Additionally, Personal Printing technology, which is integrated into Cortado Corporate Server, can also be used. This ensures that printing only starts once the user authenticates via a QR-code scan with their mobile device at a printer of their choice. This prevents printouts and sensitive data from falling into the wrong hands.

“We are proud to expand our already unique productivity features to now include secure, mobile network printing for Android devices. This offers real added value and productivity gains, especially in BYOD and CYOD contexts where Android devices are most often used,” said Armin Lungwitz, CIO at Cortado Mobile Solutions. “Our productivity features are an integral, fundamental element of Cortado Corporate Server, and unlike other solutions, do not require third-party solutions from other suppliers.”
